Downtown Jail Public Forum 12/3/08 - As Chair of the Highland Park Action Committee, Dorsol Plants speaks in favor of the downtown option for a jail site. Highland Park residents have been by far the most numerous at every public forum.  City's record of the comments


 Highland Park Jail Public Forums 6/26 and 7/26/08 - Dorsol Plants speaks against the Highland Park way or Meyers Way jail sites. His points are backed up by representatives of the Georgetown, South Park, and White Center neighborhoods, as well as residents of the northend Haller Lake site.


34th District Democrats meeting, 8-08 - Dorsol presented an update of the Highland Park Action Committee's jail opposition to the August meeting of the 34th.  At left, HPAC Vice-Chair Rory Denovan.


Community Organizing - Highland Park Action Commitee, chaired by Dorsol Plants, organized jail site opposition by distributing information and yard signs, collecting thousands of petition signatures, lobbying elected officials, networking with other communities, and encouraging residents to write letters to the city and attend the city's public forums. 


Community Organizing, 9-08 - Dorsol Plants invites advocates for the homeless to speak the Highland Park Action Committee monthly meeting. He convinces  members to support the nearby tent city called "Nickelsville" - instead of opposing.

and get information from advocates for the homeless.


Community Organizing - KIRO-7 Eyewitness News reporter Deborah Horne interviewed Dorsol, Chairman of Highland Park Action Committee, as part of their coverage of the Tent City. The media and the city were surprised to find that HPAC was NOT protesting the "Nickelsville" encampment. 


Community Appreciation 8-08 - Highland Park Action Committee Chair Dorsol Plants initiated the practice of giving awards to those in our community who have made outstanding contributions. Dorsol presents an award of appreciation to longtime Highland Park community activist Ann Owchar.
